Age 75, of Porters Lake, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2022, with his loving wife by his side, in Bissett Court Nursing home after a four-year battle with dementia. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Owen and Vera (Waldron) Ritcey. Loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, and great-grandfathe­r. Retired from the Dartmouth Police department where he served for 30 years. Owen was an avid golfer, bowler, hunter, Nascar fan, and enjoyed anything related to cars. He also enjoyed spending his mornings at Mckay’s Restaurant eating breakfast and chatting with friends. But mostly he enjoyed spending time by the lake with his family. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Rhonda; children, Jackie Kidd (Don), Waverley, Scott Ritcey (Maryann), Porters Lake, Pamela Ritcey, Halifax; brother, Jim Ritcey (Janis), Dartmouth; grandchild­ren, Erin, Taylor, Tyvonn, Camaron, Carter, Shayna, Amaya; great grandchild­ren, Scarlett, Lennox; mother-in-law, Lorraine Harris, Dartmouth; brothersin-law, Darrell Harris, Cooks Brook, David Thorne, Port Royal. He was predecease­d by sister, Carol Thorne. Visitation will be held from 7- 9 p.m., on Wednesday November 16th, and Celebratio­n of life to be held from 2-4 p.m., on Thursday November 17th, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. Private family burial to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
