KENNIE, Kevin Clifford

-

April 25, 1957 - May 15, 2023. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin Clifford Kennie on Monday, May 15, 2023. He died peacefully at home with his family by his side after a brief but fierce battle with cancer. The strength, integrity, conviction, and grace that he showed during his battle will never be forgotten. He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathy (Burns); sons, Jeffrey, Lucas, Jacob; brother, Jerry; and sister, Joanne Smith; grandsons, Jeffrey, Jordan, and Jonah; brothers-in-law, David and Phillip; and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Clifford Kennie, and his loving mother, Joan (Hiltz) Kennie. Kevin was a long-time employee of ILA Local 269, and in earlier years was also an accomplished carpenter and welder. It was never a surprise to find him at Branch 14 with his many projects on the go. He always enjoyed being busy. You could always count on him to have a fire burning while listening to his Saturday night classics and sipping on a cold beer with some friends. He cherished the time he spent tending to his gardens, chatting with his neighbours and most of all, his morning walks through the neighbourhood with his beautiful brown eyed girl, Kuma. Kevin always enjoyed a good game of cards with his friends Dana, Gerry, Dave, Nathan, Renee, and Puckie, or having a competitive game of chess with his youngest son, Jacob. He cherished his time with family and there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his sons. Being an avid fisherman, Kevin loved to go to Economy with his boys to toss a line in the water and to kick up at Camp Kennie. Kevin, when you get to where you’re going, think about us because we will always be thinking of you. You were loved by so very many and respected by all. You will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place at Harbourside Crematorium, and the celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the SPCA or a charity of choice. Special thank you Dr. Bell (Debbie), Dr. Dahn, nurse Heather, and the doctors in the Palliative Care Unit. Also, to our friends and neighbours. A very special thank you to Claire, Palliative Care nurse, for consistently going above and beyond. Thank you.
