It is with great sadness that the family of the late Angus Louis Gillis of Grand Falls-Windsor, N.L., announces his passing, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-windsor on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the age of 68 years. Angus loved, and was loved back, by his family tremendous­ly. He retired from the Department of National Defence in 2009 after a long and rewarding career. Angus was predecease­d by his father, Alexander Gillis; mother, Mary Gillis; sister, Olive Gillis; brothers, Alexander Gillis and Donald Gillis; nephews, Jamie Norman, Terry Swaysland and Ben Gillis. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Kay (Norman); sons, Nic Etheridge Calder (Sam), Calgary, Alta.; James Gillis, Sydney; Alexander Gillis, Sydney; daughters, Natalie Gillis, Grand Fallswinds­or; and Amy Gillis, Grand Falls-windsor; grandchild­ren, Brayden Fraser, Josiah Fraser, Abba-lynn Fraser and Joshua Fraser; brothers, Stewart (Mary) Gillis, Earl Gillis, John Gillis, Stephen (Mary) Gillis and Archie (Ruth) Gillis; sisters, Josephine Gillis, Mary (Steve) Gillis, Ann (Hugh) Macdonald, Minnie Gillis, Rhoda (Stan) Mills, Cassie (Suey) Macdougall, Susan Gillis, Hughena Parlee, and Theresa Wilcox; mother-inlaw, Florrie Norman; brothers-in-law, Neil (Linda) Norman, Barry (Joanne) Norman, Darren (Jennifer) Norman and Eldon (Karen) Norman; sisters-in-law, Margaret Gillis, Annabelle Gillis and Bess (Duane) Norman; along with a large circle of family and friends. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11th in Southwest Margaree, in St. Joseph Parish, 73 South West Margaree Rd. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s & Macdougall Cemetery. A reception will be held in South West Hall following interment. Everyone is welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Grand Falls Windsor Community Kitchen, or a charity of your choice.
