Robert Pierce died at 100

Passed away peacefully, May 24, 2023, in Halifax in his 100th year. Bob was born in Halifax July 9, 1923, the second son of William and Harriet (Hill) Pierce. Educated in Halifax, and Toronto, ON, Bob married his first wife, Nina Jean (Weston) in Halifax, where they had three children and later moved to Ontario. They lived , for a time, in Hudson FL, returning to Nova Scotia in 1996, and living first in West Jeddore and later in Mineville. Bob was very active in Community service. After the death of his first wife Jean in 2008, Bob lived with his son, Ron, and daughter-in-law, Kathy, in West Porters Lake before moving to Parkland Estates in Clayton Park. There he met and married his second wife, Maryliz Millar. Mary passed away in 2017. Bob was a journeyman machinist and was engaged in the constructi­on of destroyers for the Canadian Navy during the Second World War. During his career, Bob was an account executive in the heavy constructi­on industry, a financial analyst in Ontario and the Vice President of a manufactur­ing corporatio­n in Florida. Bob was a singer and Church soloist and for six and a half years arranged and directed a Sunday afternoon sing-along for the residents of Cameron Hall. Bob was predecease­d by his first wife, Jean; his second wife Maryliz; his daughter, Joanne (Wehrmeyer, Weber); his brother, Weldon and his sister, Jackie (Henry Wagstaff). Celebratin­g his life are sons, Robert Pierce Jr., Ronald Pierce (Kathryn); six grandchild­ren; nine great-grandchild­ren and two great great-grandchild­ren (with one on the way). Bob wishes to thank his many friends and family who helped make life enjoyable. Bob has generously donated his body to Dalhousie University for medical research, with burial in West Jeddore at a later date. At his request, there will not be a service.
