ETTINGER (Perry), Irene Margaret Alice

-

Age 87, formerly of Noel, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Halifax on March 31, 1936, Irene was a daughter of the late Loretta (Cleveland) and Herbert Perry. Beginning work at a young age, Irene had fond memories of working at Moir’s Chocolate Factory in Halifax, before settling in Noel, where she continued working as a caregiver and personal care aid. Irene was known for her feisty personality, teapot collection and love for photos. She proudly displayed pictures of her family and memories from every event of her life, often sparking many conversations with visitors and care workers. Irene loved having a good laugh and valued her long chats on the phone and visits with her friends and family. She enjoyed attending Bingo, jamborees, and the evening socials at Sunnybrook Manor; word search puzzles, baked goods, knitting, and having her nails painted the brightest shade of pink. Irene is survived by her son, Bert (Colleen); grandchildren, Courtney, Ashley, and Brad (Miranda); sisters, Bertha and Betty; brother, Victor; and in-laws Doris, Linda and Wayne; along with several nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her parents; husband, Arthur; as well as siblings, Art and Murial. The family would like to thank Dykeland Lodge staff for their dedicated care and compassion during her time there. Cremation has taken place, as per Irene’s request, there will be no visitation. A private service will be held on Friday, June 2nd in Noel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irene’s memory to Noel Fire Department, whom she faithfully supported. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J.W. Allen Funeral Home, Hwy. 215, Summerville (Phone 902-633-2431). Please visit their website at: www.allenfh.ca if you wish to sign the guest book and/or send private condolences.
