Age 90 of Dartmouth, NS, passed away on May 27, 2023, after a brief illness. Born in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of Dr. Kenneth and Isobel Baird. She graduated from UNB with a B.A. It was at UNB that she met the love of her life, Turney Manzer. As he served in the Armed Forces they moved across Canada and eventually settled in Dartmouth where they raised six children. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked as a librarian in the provincial Dept. of Municipal Affairs. She and Turney enjoyed travelling, reading, music and gardening. She was an accomplish­ed seamstress making many wedding dresses and Halloween costumes. She was also a very good cook and fed many of her children’s and grandchild­ren’s friends on many occasions. Audrey was very active in the community for many years. Some of the highlights were the Dartmouth YM-YWCA, Canadian Federation of University Women, Internatio­nal Federation of University Women, Dartmouth Natal Day Committee, NS Highland Games, Halifax Foundation, Clean Nova Scotia and she was a very long serving member and chair of the Dartmouth Lakes Advisory Board. She also served on many environmen­tal task forces and advisory committees. She and Turney were both paddling officials for many years on Lake Banook and she was chosen to participat­e as an official at the Pan American Games in Mexico City and the Montreal Olympics. She received many accolades and awards from municipal, provincial and federal government­s, too numerous to mention. She was predecease­d by her beloved husband, Turney Manzer and her son, Ian (Santa Monica CA). She was the last surviving member of her generation of her family. She is survived by her daughters, Alison (Trevor Williams), Toronto, ON, Heather (Marcel Maessen), Dartmouth, NS, Isobel (Lance Gifford), Port Hope, ON, Aileen (Jerry Patterson), Dartmouth, NS; her son, Gordon, Dartmouth, NS; and her daughter-in-law, Robin Manzer, Santa Monica, CA. Her grandchild­ren are, Amy (James Servos) and Brian Delafranie­r, Ontario, Willem, Laura (Devin Mcphersonm­clean) and Connor Maessen, Dartmouth, NS, Jamie and Kate Gifford, Toronto, ON, Robin (Simon Lake), Dartmouth, NS, and Meredith (Jordan Ryter) Patterson, Halifax, NS. She also had the chance to meet her two great-grandchild­ren, Gavin and Emelia Servos of Ontario. At her request there will be no funeral or visitation.
