VAUGHAN, Manford Orman “Manny”

Age 89, of Kentville, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in New Minas, he was a son of the late Stowell and Cora (Jordan) Vaughan. Manny started his working career at the young age of 17, for Kites Bakery as a doorto-door delivery boy. From there, he worked for Fina Garage, Kentville and Milne’s Garage, New Minas for a brief period, then Glube’s Furniture Sales, Kentville for 22 years. He also worked for Valley View Mobile Homes and Rockwell’s Home Hardware, Kentville. Manny resided in the former Nova Scotia Sanitorium from the ages of 14 to 17 as he recovered from Tuberculos­is. He was an avid outdoorsma­n and enjoyed 4-wheeling, snowmobili­ng, fishing, hunting and camping, especially the family camping trips to Cape Breton. He also loved music and dancing. Manny was a former Royal Canadian Legion Kentville Branch #006 member and a devoted patron of the A&W Coffee Club, New Minas. Even after his health started to decline, he drove his electric scooter from Kentville to New Minas for his daily A&W breakfast. Manny is survived by his children, Terry (Juanita Pleasant), Kentville; Gene (Judy), East Lahave; Cindy Vaughan, Alberta; Sandy (Andrea Hancock), Lunenburg; Pansy Vaughan, British Columbia; Sam (Brenda Spicer) Vaughan, Steam Mill; and Beth Zwicker (Gary Ross), New Minas; sister, Zelma Long, Sunken Lake; many grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children and great great-grandchild­ren; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by his brother, Wendell Vaughan; sisters, Betty Schofield, Eileen Gardner and Connie Shivers; and brother-in-law, Ken Long. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. The funeral service (with a video webcast) will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Rev. Dr. Judith Saunders officiatin­g. Reception will follow at the Kentville Lions Club. Interment will be held in Elm Grove Cemetery, at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Valley Hospice Foundation or Von-annapolis Valley. Funeral arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
