STRONG (Clouter), Rose Louise

-

With incredible sadness, we announce that we have lost our beloved mother, Rose Louise Strong (Clouter), who passed away much too soon on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Mom was a beautiful soul, full of love and kindness. Her greatest joy on earth was her family and she loved each and every one fiercely. She made friends everywhere she went and was truly loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Watson and they were married for 66 years. Dad met Mom when she was 13 and he was 15 in their hometown of Clarenville, NL. What started as a young friendship blossomed into an incredible family of five children, seven grandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren with another on the way. Mom was a proud Navy wife who moved to Nova Scotia with her young sailor husband in July of 1958 and settled in Dartmouth where they raised their ever-growing family. She worked retail for a number of years at K-mart but her greatest joy was being a stay at home mom for, not only her own children, but most of the neighbourhood kids as well. She baked the best homemade bread and made countless bottles of preserves, which she happily gave to all her neighbours. Mom and Dad had a cottage in Fox Point and in her senior years she volunteered in Hubbards to, in her words, “help the seniors”. The Strong family would like to pass on our deepest gratitude to the hospital staff in emergency at the Dartmouth General Hospital; you did all you could and she was thankful for every kindness. Mom was predeceased by her beloved and only son Bob and her mother Juanita Clouter. She is survived by the love of her life Watson Strong, and daughters Karla Gates (Paul Dewitt), Debbie Chiasson (John), Cheryl Misener (Wilfred aka "Woop"), Jackie White (Geoff); grandchildren Carli (Rob), Niki (Jacob), Jacob (Michaela), Alanah (Brandon), Krissy (Jeff), Luke (Lauren), Mike (Jess) and great-grandchildren (aka her Munchkins) Odin, Lila, Sawyer, Everly, Lucy, Forrest, Riggs, Violet, Presley, Riley, Cacey, and another on the way. Please join our family for a celebration of life at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8th in Woodlawn United Church, Woodlawn Road, Dartmouth. Reception to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the IWK Health Centre, Woodlawn United Church or any foodbank in her memory. For online condolences, please visit: www.dartmouthfuneralhome.ca
