SMITH, Ethel May

-

Age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Camp Hill Hospital. Born in Sambro, she was the second oldest daughter of the late Simeo and Stella (Hart) Smith. She is survived by her sons Robert (Delores), Mckay Section, Victor (Judith), Ardoise; sisters Lois, Spryfield and Bessie, Ohio. Brother William, Sambro; grandsons, Robert Smith (Caleidgh), Hammonds Plains, Justin Smith, Bedford, granddaughter; Vanessa (Mark) Lichtensteiger, Ohio; many great and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold (Jim); son Micheal; sisters, Gladys Nickerson and Mary Smith; brothers, Cecil and Cillford Smith. Mom loved to be social, chatting with her friends in her residents at Captain William Spry Lodge; she enjoyed dancing, bowling, darts, playing cards, walking with her friends when she lived in Sambro and later in years with her sister Lois around Halifax and events like the buskers downtown. She was an active member of the Spryfield Legion. Always ready to give her opinion on world events, chances are she could have solved many of their problems, I’m sure. She was a real go getter and never wanted to stop moving. She will be greatly missed by all who know her. The family would like to express special thanks over the years to all the doctors, nurses and staff of the QEII Health Sciences Center and Camp Hill 3 East. Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In keeping with Mom’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of one’s choice.
