VANCE (Etheridge), Eric M.

-

After a short, tough battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Marsden Vance (Etheridge) on March 6, 2024, at the Inverness Memorial Hospital, Palliative Care. Eric was born on August 24, 1954, in Truro. At the young age of 16, Eric started travelling, working abroad, and making lifelong friends everywhere he went, from Margaree to Vancouver. Over the years Eric held many different titles but always loved telling stories of his days driving trucks and plows all over the country and working in the oil patch. Eric spent the last 15 years working for the Department of Transportation where he made countless friends and memories, and he cherished every one of them! Eric will be missed greatly by his lifelong best friend, Sharon; children, Karl (Sarah), Aleshya (Ryan), Hunter (Corrina), Megan, Desdamona, Etheridge (Annie); grandchildren, Edie, Sofia, Brady, Maryella, Harlow, Eleanor, Maeve; sister, Dawn Suttie and brother, Robert Vance; as well as many special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Pa also leaves behind his favorite copilot, Angus. Morning drives for a coffee, a quick trip for breakfast or a spontaneous road trip across Canada were all in Eric fashion and he made sure to include the kids, Sharon, or his friends in all these trips. He made sure to make a good morning call or a good night text every day and took so much pride and joy in telling everyone about his kids and grandchildren and making sure they had everything they could ever need. He was so proud. Eric was predeceased by his mother, Mary, father, Tom; brother, Sherman; and son, Ericson. Thank you to the nurses and doctors of the IMCH for all the love and care they gave Pa for the last number of weeks. Donations may be made to the Inverness Palliative Care Society. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 9th at Wilson United Church from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m.
