-

Patricia Mary “Pattie” Macleod was a beloved wife, mother, nana and loyal friend. She passed away on the evening of Thursday, February 29, 2024 in the QEII – Halifax Infirmary at the age of 79. Born at home in South Side, Cape Island Pattie was one of five children to the late Virginia (Stoddard) Smith and granddaughter to the late Helen and Clinton Stoddart. Pattie was a lifelong learner and took undergraduate courses part time, while raising a family and working as the office manager at her husband’s orthodontic practice. She was awarded her B.A. in psychology from Acadia University in 1999, convocating on the same day as her son. She will be remembered for her fierce loyalty, integrity, and commitment to those she loved. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by family. She embraced every moment watching her children grow and cherished her role as "nana" helping to raise six beautiful grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 57 years, David who she met at the age of 14 while attending Liverpool Regional High School. As the story goes David caught her eye one day while he was sharpening a pencil wearing a green sweater. What followed from that was a love story that most would only dream of. She will be remembered by her daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Hockley, Arlington; Jennifer Macleod (Marc Santilli), Tantallon; son, Matthew Macleod (Marla Macaulay), White Rock; six grandchildren, Emma Jane Hockley, Drew Hockley; Lucas Santilli, Lauren Macleod, Liam Santilli and Leah Macleod; two brothers, Joseph (Mary) Smith, Spryfield; Mike Herman, Beaverbank; nieces, extended family, nephews, friends, honorary daughters, Laura and Cindy and honorary grandson, Roman. "Pattie Donut", as she was known to them, will be truly missed by the Mcdonald clan of Milton. In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by a sister, Anna Boudreau and a brother, Donald Smith. In keeping with Pattie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
