Age 86, Truro. The family of Isabel Grace Fields announces her peaceful passing on March 9, 2024, just two days after her 86th birthday in Truro. Born in Hillside, Pictou County, on March 7, 1938, she was the cherished daughter of the late Garnet and Gertrude (Cook-hennessey) Smith. In her teens, Isabel moved to Truro, where she met and married the love of her life, George Aubrey Fields. Together, they shared many years, first in Bible Hill and later in Upper Onslow before his passing in 2010 due to stroke complicati­ons. Isabel was a former member of St. George’s Anglican Church, Bible Hill, where her melodious voice was a well-known presence in the choir. Isabel is survived by her loving family: two sons, Kevin (Donna) Fields of Truro, and Timothy (Karen) Fields of Onslow Mountain; three daughters, Lisa (Michael) Swinimer of Lower Sackville, Patricia (Brian) Wynn of Ottawa Brook, and Suzanne Macneil of Truro. She will be dearly missed by her grandchild­ren, Devin Hutchinson, Ryan Isenor, Kally Swinimer, Tyler Fields, James Dennis, Corey Fields, Rachel Charette, Colby Wood, Shelton Swinimer, Samuel Dennis, Benjamin Dennis, and their partners. Isabel is also survived by her great-grandchild­ren, Isaac Isenor, Brooklyn Hutchinson, Philip and George Charette, Harrison, Theo, and Holden Fields, and Charlie Dennis. Additional­ly, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Isabel was predecease­d by her parents-inlaw, George and Audrey Fields; and her siblings, John and Lawrence Hennessey, Alfred and Gerald Smith; as well as sisters, Betty Pollock and Thelma Cavanagh. A special thanks to Suzanne, Kevin, Donna, Tim, and Karen for their help in keeping Isabel in her home for as long as possible. If so desired, donations in her memory can be made to the VON. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held in Bible Hill Cemetery at a later date to honour and remember Isabel’s life.
