Age 67, of Timberlea was a loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r, passed away in hospital surrounded by family on March 1, 2024. Peggy was born on November 24, 1956, in Halifax to Mina (Miller) and Ralph Hammond who predecease­d her in death along with her sister Dianne Grant (Hammond). Peggy attended Queen Elizabeth High School, upon completion she started her job with the phone company. She started off by taking phone orders and then moved all the way to middle management. She made many lifelong friends, some through the softball team. Later in life she took up golf with many of these same friends which she loved. Peggy was a majorette growing up and got back into it with her eldest daughter making friends, memories and traveling. She enjoyed her summers by the lake in her gazebo, camping with her family and spending time with her sister at her cottage playing cards. She loved hockey and attending Halifax Moosehead games. Peggy is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Jimmy Gray, who stood by her side through all the ups and downs of the last few years. She is survived by her brother, Tom Hammond (Laureen) Trestle Creek, AB. She also leaves behind her three daughters, Tracey, Shannon and Carrie (Matt); and her grandchild­ren who were her pride and joy, Jo, Claire, Tanner, Rhett and Kai. In addition to many nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Lori Wood and Donna Boyd of the V.G. Cancer Clinic on the 11th floor for all of their support over the last 7 years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held on Monday, March 18th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Atlantic Funeral Homes on Bayers Rd., Halifax. A funeral service to honor and remember Peggy will be held on March 19th at 10 a.m. at Saint James Anglican Church 2668 Joseph Howe Dr., Halifax.
