Age 76. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on March 7, 2024. His wife Betty and sons Todd and Peter were by his side. Ray leaves behind a legacy of love and joy. He leaves behind his wife, Betty Thibeault Nauss of 52 years; sons, Todd (Alicia Browne), Peter (Shannon Carr); sister, Jeannette Christie (Robert); brother, George (Chris Rodrigue); his pride and joy, grandchild­ren, Jaden, Mackenzie, Livia, Lina, Evalyn; as well as several nieces and nephews. Special mention of Blair Snow and Ryleigh and Rheo Carr. He was preceded in death by brothers, Gordon (Noreen), David (in infancy); as well as his parents, Gordon and Jeannette, whose love and guidance helped shaped his life. Ray was born in 1947, in Halifax, NS. For over 33 years, he worked at the Halifax Dockyard retiring as a Marine Engineer on the Firebird where he made many lifelong friends. A devoted family man, Ray and Betty raised two sons, Todd and Peter, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Ray's jovial spirit and love for life was infectious. He was a stubborn man who loved nothing better than a good argument. An avid crib player, Ray honed his skills under the guidance of his father and continued to enjoy a good game of crib with his many friends. In retirement, Ray loved spending time visiting with his grandchild­ren, family and friends. His vast array of skills, earned him the title of "Jack of all trades" among those who knew him best. A celebratio­n of Ray's life will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 16 in Cole Harbour Funeral Home, 1234 Cole Harbour Rd. Everyone who knew and loved Ray are invited to join in the opportunit­y to meet his family and share stories of his life. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassion­ate staff at the Dartmouth General Dialysis Unit for their expert care and unwavering support.
