It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Ruth (Macpherson) Maclean on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the Inverness Consolidat­ed Memorial Hospital. Born in Baddeck on February 28, 1951, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith (Macfarlane) Macpherson. Ruth was a member of the Farquharso­n Memorial Presbyteri­an Church, Middle River, a dedicated member of a craft group composed of her dear friends, enjoyed helping organize community events, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchild­ren. She spent many years farming and running a floral business with her husband, Tom, as well as spending later years working as the dining room hostess in Flora’s Dining Room at the Inverary Resort. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Palliative and Continuing Care teams, as well as a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Egar and Nurse Liam for their care and compassion during the hours we needed it most. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Natalie, Sudbury, Susan (Nicole), Truro, Monica (David), Middle River, Lorna (Wesley), Middle River; sister, Jean Macpherson (Debbie), Halifax; grandchild­ren, Ceilidh, Ryder, Cohen, Brooklyn, Caeden; brotherin-law, Eddie (Mary Ellen), Baddeck; nieces and nephew; special neighbor, Valerie; and The Craft Ladies. Ruth was predecease­d by her husband, Tom Maclean; parents, Billy and Edie Macpherson; and a brother and sister in infancy. A funeral service will be held at Farquharso­n Memorial Presbyteri­an Church, Middle River on Thursday, March 14th, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brian Macleod officiatin­g. Following the service there will be a reception at the Middle River Community Hall. Burial will take place June 19, 2024, in Middle River Cemetery, with a time yet to be decided.
