-

It is with heavy hearts the family of Nick (Nikolaos) Tziolas announces his passing on March 10, 2024 in Nicholsville. Born in Vlasti, Greece in 1932, Nick immigrated to Canada in 1981 and brought with him his traditional cheese making expertise to build a successful business, Holmestead Cheese Sales Inc., pioneering and introducing Feta cheese to Atlantic Canada. Nick’s passion for his business is only matched by his love for his family. He loved family reunions and gathering friends at the kitchen table, always generously sharing his love of food and life stories. Nick also loved cooking, watching and discussing soccer matches with his sons, debating politics and history with friends, and of course talking about his four children. Nick will always be present in the family business run by Susan and George, and in his wife’s and children’s hearts. Nick will be missed by his wife, Susan; children, George, Geoff, Stella, and Dimitris; nephews and nieces, Ioannis (Fani), Kostas (Dora), Jude, and Lola; mother in-law, Joan Holmes; brother in-law, John Holmes (Nicole); and many friends in the Canadian and Greek communities. The family would like to thank all of Nick’s doctors and health care professionals for the excellent care and advice over the years. The Tziolas’s are grateful for their friends and neighbors who have shown so much love, condolences, and support during this difficult time. A private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
