HARRIS, William Joseph

-

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of William Joseph Harris. William died on March 11, 2024, in Halifax, NS, from a heart attack. He was 37 years old. William leaves behind his loving partner, Virginia “Essie” Thompson; his beloved mother, Paulette; his older siblings, Emily (Vince) and Philip; his darling nieces, Layla and Lucy; his aunties, uncles, stepgrandmother, Jean; cousins and his cat, Janie. William was born in Halifax on December 10, 1986, and was a son of Paulette (Harris) Raymond and his late father, Victor Harris. He was predeceased by his grandparents on both maternal and paternal sides of his family. William spent his youngest years in Windsor, NS, where he played in the backyard with his siblings and numerous neighbourhood children. As a child, he was our ‘little Will’ who loved to make everyone laugh. William moved to Halifax when he was 7 years old. He loved reading and watching films. He learned to cook and bake at an early age with his mother. He was a collector of movies and vintage video games and loved animals, especially cats. William loved lakes and trees and was most at peace away from the hustle and bustle of the city. He spent a lot of time in the backyard of his family home fixing a fence, gardening, planting trees, and raking leaves. He also loved being a homebody with his partner Essie and his fur babies. William had a gentle nature and was fulfilled by spending time with his loved ones. William was sweet, kind, and full of love. He was a good listener and confidante on matters of the heart, often putting others before himself. William never ended a conversation with his family members without saying “I love you”. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of William’s Life on Sunday March 24th from 3-5 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Boat Club, 1641 Fairfield Road, Halifax, NS. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Halifax Cat Rescue Society or another charity of your choice. To place or view an online condolence, please visit: www.cruikshankhalifaxfuneral home.com
