Logan, Thurber win metro league MVP awards

Olivia Logan and Mason Thurber are this year's metro high school basketball league most valuable players.

Logan plays for the Halifax West Warriors girls' team and Thurber is a member of the three-time defending provincial boys' champion C.P. Allen Cheetahs. Logan's teammate Ava Macnutt was the girls' defensive player of the year and CPA'S Ruhi Choi was the rookie of the year.

Donovan Reid of the Millwood Knights won the Bob Douglas defensive player of the year award on the boys' side and Armbrae's Travae Jones and Citadel's Travarius Carvery were co-rookies of the year. CPA'S Steve Harris was the coach of the year.

C.P. Allen will host an all-star doublehead­er on Wednesday. The girls' game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys' game at 7:30 p.m.

Suiting up in the girls' game will be: Ryli Nolan and Saoirse Mcdonough (Citadel), Maria Davignon and Ally Mclean (Halifax West), Sasha Dabb and Lily Francois (Armbrae), Jamiah Thomas and Courteya Oliver-fraser (Auburn Drive), Ella Hoyt and Molly Sancton (Halifax Grammar School), Ivy Hodder and Ellie Boyd (Dartmouth), Sarah Mallard and Aliya Brunt (CPA), Norah Lawrence and Avery Macfarlane (Lockview), Payton Oschypko and Lisa Snow (Bay View), Abigail Kohler and Novah Lepage (Millwood), Kiri Moore and Sara Miller (Woodlawn), Maryn Kline and Maddie Webb (J.L. Ilsley), Jada Awalt and Ines Alias (Sackville) and Evie Hargraves and Violet Langille (Cole Harbour).

The boys' all-stars are: Thurber and Jude Cameron (CPA), Paul Othow and Jayden Lucas (Millwood), Kanan Christmas and Brycen Clark (Citadel), Bro Williams and Kaymon Grouse (Dartmouth), Ollie Nadeau and Ronei Beals (Armbrae), Andre Ash and Matthew Carmichael (Auburn Drive), Aidan Taylor and Eamon Johnston (Bay View), Max Machum and Sam Olugu (Halifax Grammar School), Jeryn Tynes-howe and Omar Khalak (J.L Ilsley), Beckett Nadeau and Tevin Brothers (Halifax West), Jacob Drane and Josh Moores (Woodlawn), Xavier Paris and Jacob Malloy (Lockview) and Rylan Benoit and Grady Cogen (Sackville).
