Age 87, of Shelburne, NS, passed peacefully in his sleep at Bayside Nursing home with his daughterin-law Mary Davis, granddaugh­ter Erika Davis and long-time friend Tommy Demings at his side. Thomas was born in Upper Clyde on July 27,1936 at home to Russell Davis and Florence (Smith). He was the 2nd of 3 children, and the eldest son. He began his working career with his father, working for Russell’s bakery, Tasty Bakers, as a delivery driver. He then went on to work for Irving Oil LTD for 36 years as the Area Supervisor for the South Shore. He retired in 1996, after a long and successful career at a company he loved. He spent his retirement travelling, attending church, assisting Mary with travel for the residents at the Abide-a-while, performing charity work, reading many, many books and spending time with his family. He married his high school sweetheart in 1955, Martha Mae (Newell), whom he had a long and loving marriage with. They had one son, and two grandchild­ren. Thomas was predecease­d by his beloved wife, Martha Mae Davis (Newell); his son, Raymond Eugene Davis; his sister, Betty Lou Bezanson (Davis); his brother-in-law, Owen Bezanson; his brother, Bob Davis; his twin brother at birth, (unnamed); and his parents, Russell and Florence. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Mary Davis (Raymond); granddaugh­ter, Erika (Chris); grandson, Ryan (Alysia); several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Cremation has taken place under the care of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematoriu­m LTD. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 58 Bulkley Street, Shelburne, where the Memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m., with Pastors Ron Coole, Wayne and Tanya Dooks officiatin­g. Memorial Donations can be made to Shelburne Baptist Church, Harbour Light Pentecosta­l Church, Sandy Point Lighthouse, your local SPCA or charity of choice. The family would like to give a special thank you to Roseway Hospital, NP Maria Ceschiutti, VON, and staff at Bayside Nursing home, who showed Thomas and family an extraordin­ary amount of compassion at this difficult time. A loving thank you to Jeffrey Mahaney, a long-time family friend, for his support over the years, Tommy Demings, who was especially close to Thomas, Debbie and Lee Townsend for their visits.
