CECCHETTO, Georye

-

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle and great uncle, George Cecchetto on April 2, 2024. He died peacefully in his sleep. George was the son of the late Umberto (Libra) Cecchetto and his late adopted parents, George and Martha Cecchetto. He was predeceased by George and Martha’s children, Sonny (Marlene) Cecchetto, Clara (Melvie) Pasher and Moe Pasher - his chosen brother. George’s greatest joy was spending time in Amherst with family. He is survived by his much-loved sister, Anna and brother-inlaw, Dennis Arbuckle; nephews, Liam (Christa, Francis, Marcus), Andrew (Rachel, William) and Ian (James) Arbuckle. George’s nephews were his pride and joy. He loved them unconditionally. He is also survived by Martha and George’s children, Georgetta (Jack) Timmons and Georgie and Mary Cecchetto. George had numerous medical challenges which he faced with profound dignity. He never allowed them to define who he was. Special thanks to Alanna Emin, Michael Milligan and staff at Connections, Dr. Hernandez -Lee, Loida Burog and staff at Haven Manor, Katie Jessome and second floor staff at Arborstone and 6 floor dialysis unit staff at Qell. Your kindness and exemplary care went beyond duty. It helped George reach 69 years. When there is great love, there is great loss. To quote Winnie the Pooh, “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I'll stay there forever.” You will stay with us forever, Chico. May the angels sing you home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst. As was requested, there will be no viewing or visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amherst Food Bank or you can do a kindness in his memory. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be forwarded to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting the funeral home Facebook page.
