It is with great sadness that the family announces that on Thursday, March 21, 2024, Colleen Hansen passed away peacefully at the age of 90 years in Grand View Manor in Berwick. She was born on February 23, 1934, in Middleton, NS, the daughter of the late Adelia and Ernest Dorey. She was predecease­d by her husband, Arno, of 52 years; sister, Rosalind; brother, Gordon; and sons, Kevin and Blair. Colleen had a long career with the Bank of Nova Scotia in various branches. She enjoyed working with the public for 25 years. Colleen and Arno resided in Nictaux West for most of their lives where they enjoyed gardening and their hobbies. Colleen loved painting, knitting, rug hooking, sewing, reading, camping, walking, and best of all, travelling with Arno. She was a member of the Nictaux Baptist Church and the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mom was the Queen of “thrifting” way before it became a fashionabl­e thing! Colleen and Arno both enjoyed curling out of the Middleton Curling Club and the social times they shared with friends: curling, singing, and dancing. She is survived by her children, Sonja Hansen-bent (Trevor); Susan Aldred (Jeff); Gary Hunt and Britt Kjelstruph­ansen. She is also survived by nine grandchild­ren; seven great-grandchild­ren; and nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, and a service for both Colleen and Arno will be held in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448, on Sunday, April 21, at 2 p.m. The family would like to extend sincere appreciati­on to the caring doctors, nurses and staff of Grand View Manor in Berwick.
