Born in February 1930 in Herring Cove, Peggy was the cherished eldest daughter of the late Leo William (Bill) Power and Margaret (Thomas) Power. Peggy's early life unfolded between the scenic surroundings of "the Cove" and the vibrant south end of Halifax. She was a proud graduate of St. Patrick's High School in 1947, after which she ventured into the workforce. Peggy's career was marked by her roles at Air Canada, Delano Realty, and Woolco, where she thrived on engaging with the public. In 1954/55, Peggy's life took a joyful turn when she met and married her beloved husband, John. Together, they nurtured a bustling household of seven children. Initially setting roots in Halifax, they soon moved to Dartmouth, where they spent many happy years (including a brief stint in Quebec), actively involved in their community and raising their family.
