MACDONALD, Mary Allyson

-

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister and aunt, Allyson Macdonald. Born in 1946 to Mary (Macdougall) and Donnie K. Macdonald, she was fifth in our family of six. In addition to our parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Sandra Taggart (Roy) and Paula Purcell (late David). Mourning her loss are her siblings, Joan Butt (late Ted), Elizabeth Macphee (Keith) and Kenneth Macdonald (Diane); along with her nieces and nephews, Eddie, Tim, Jana, and Natalie (Butt), Natasha, Claudia, and Audrey (Macphee), Courtney (Macdonald), Jacqueline, and Ashley (Purcell), Kim, Kara, Kelly and Kristen (Taggart). Also surviving are four greatnieces and twelve greatnephews. Allyson’s early education was at Tulloch School in West Lake Ainslie. She completed high school and a Commercial Certificate at St. Joseph’s Convent Boarding School in Mabou. Following graduation she made her home in Halifax. Her first job was with Charles Farquhar Accounting Services. During her early employment years she studied Certified Industrial Accounting at St. Mary’s University. She later joined the staff at Employment Canada and remained there until her early retirement in 1997. Allyson’s summer cottage at West Lake Ainslie was the setting for many happy gatherings over the years, where hospitality and laughter were always in great supply! Gardening and antiquing were some of her favourite summer activities and she took pride in her flowers and the treasures sourced from local shops. Notification regarding final arrangements will be provided at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Sunset Funeral Cooperative.

Rest in peace, Allyson.
