MACDONALD, James David “Jim”

-

Age 65 years of Mount Uniacke, passed away peacefully at the Hants Community Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Halifax on November 9, 1958; he was a son of the late Lewis and Florence (Broderick) Macdonald. As owner of Jim Macdonald Masonry & Roofing Ltd., he spent many years building this well-known and respected business that will stay in the family for many years to come. Jim took great pride in the business that he, Debbie and Jimmy built from the ground up with hard work and dedication spanning over 30 years. His love of family, especially devotion to his son Jimmy was unmeasurable. He was known for his helping hand, especially to those in need and never asked for anything in return, he just truly cared. His caring was not restricted to humankind, his beloved cat Fluff Ball was spoiled and very much loved. It was a common site to see him in the picture window with Fluff Ball at his side talking to the passers-by. He enjoyed drinks and music with friends who stopped by at any given time, the door was always open. Left with many loving memories are his son, Jimmy Davis (Kim); granddaughter, Mia Monaghan; sisters, Annie Hirtle, Betty Jean Macdonald, Anna Marie Macdonald, Marcella Macdonald (Jim), Lisa Fitzpatrick; brothers, Vincent (Elaine) Macdonald, Carl Macdonald, Thomas (Mary Anne) Macdonald and Rodney Macdonald; also by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters, Diane Mcneil, Florence Richards, Theresa Fancy, Joanne Macdonald; brothers, Tony, Lewis Macdonald and Macdonald Carl. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, from 24 and 6-8 p.m. and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 18, at 1 p.m. all from the Atlantic Funeral Home, Sackville Chapel (125 Sackville Dr. Lower Sackville) with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jim can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. Special thank you to the doctors and nurses on unit 200 at the Hants Community Hospital for all their kindness, compassion and care given to Jim and our family during his stay. Also, thank you to Janelle for being our guardian angel and helping guide us in this journey.
