CHASE, William “Bill”

-

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Chase on April 15, 2024 at the age of 91. A lifelong resident of Halifax, he was born on May 31, 1932, William was a true gentleman whose generosity, charm, and smile brightened the lives of all who knew him. Bill's early years were marked by tragedy when he lost his beloved mother, Jean Marie Hampshire, at the tender age of 12. He found solace and guidance in the loving care of Edna and Clare Holmes, who became his pillars of strength and support. Bill was the quintessential gentleman whose love for life was evident to all who knew him. His infectious smile and ever-present sense of humour brought joy and laughter to all those who knew him. Bill was a man of many passions, chief among them his love for music. A guitar always within reach, he spent countless hours strumming melodies, singing songs that ranged from heartfelt to humorous, and sharing the universal language of music with friends and family. A proud veteran, Bill served his country during the Korean War, returning home to build a life filled with love and laughter. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Loretta, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love. Their 65-year marriage stood as a testament to their unwavering devotion, and her passing just two weeks before his own speaks to a bond that transcended this life. Together, they shared decades of memories and a family that includes their children, Allen, Kevin, and Suzanne, and their late son, Raymond. He leaves behind his brother, Ken, who will miss him dearly; as will his grandchildren, Greggory, Geoffrey, Savannah Rae, Victoria, and Nicolas. William also cherished his role as a greatgrandfather to Aubrey and Callie, whose presence brought him immense joy in his later years. Each of them held a special place in his heart, illuminated by his endless enthusiasm and unconditional love. A visitation will be held on April 21, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, a service to celebrate Bill's life will take place the next day on April 22, at 2 p.m. followed by a reception in the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. Bill will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a man who loved deeply, laughed heartily, and lived fully. Rest in peace, dear Bill. Your melody will linger in our hearts always. We feel comfort in knowing that he is now serenely reunited with his wife, Loretta, in heaven. Online condolences may be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Dartmouth Chapel
