Age 73 of Bedford, died peacefully in hospital November 29, 2019, with his loving family by his side. Bill was born on December 19, 1945 in Toronto, Ont. He was the only son of the late Arthur and Anne Field (Dick) (of Elmvale, Ont.). Bill spent 51 years building a life and a family with his loving wife Nancy Field (Train). Together they raised three daughters, moving 15 times, and calling many places in Ontario and Atlantic Canada home, before settling in Bedford for the last 25 years. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by daughters, Deborah (Reuben), Katherine (Peter), Janet (David); grandchild­ren, Maddie, Sophie and Eddie; brother-in-law, William Train (Kristine); nieces and nephew, Tara, William, Rebecca and Olivia; sister-in-law, Carol Greaves; special cousin, Beth Clelland; and many close friends. He was also predecease­d by brother-inlaw, David Greaves. Bill was a loyal, hardworkin­g, profession­al dedicating 33 years as manager at TD Bank and then Symcore, before his retirement in 2003. Bill was as committed to his community and enjoyed volunteeri­ng his time to help others. Bill was a member of the Board for Fultz House Museum; sang in the choir at First Sackville Presbyteri­an Church in Lower Sackville; and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club. In Bill’s spare time he was often found at the sugar bush in Pleasantva­le, N.B., alongside his good friend making maple syrup. He was a practical man too, often giving advice and thinking of others first. In his words, "I would like to thank all those who wished me well during my illness. Your words and prayers were very much appreciate­d." The family is forever thankful to the staff in section 8.1 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre for their support and kindness before losing him to cancer. Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 4th in Bernard Funeral Home, Lower Sackville between 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate Bill’s life will take place Thursday, December 5th at 11 a.m. in First Sackville Presbyteri­an Church, 60 Beaverbank Rd., in Lower Sackville. Donations in Bill’s memory can be made to Fultz House Museum in Sackville.
