MURRAY, Francis Owen "Frank"

-

Of Windsor, July 18, 1941 November 30, 2019. Frank Murray’s story has now been written and it was one full of love, passion, commitment, friendship, and deep devotion. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30th surrounded by his loving family, Brian (Jayne) and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelly and Peter. Frank was four-corner Irish Catholic, born in Bangor, Maine, to parents, Mary and Francis. Losing his father to a tragic accident when he was nine, Frank and his brother, Brian, quickly learned about resilience and inner strength. Frank attended St. Mary’s University in Halifax, a school he proudly referred to as the "Harvard of the North," continuing to study with the Jesuits and playing Varsity Men’s Basketball. Everyone who remembers their own education, remembers great teachers. Frank found his calling in the classroom, making connections with kids for almost 50 years. "He was my favourite teacher" is often heard from so many in Middleton, Lawrencetown and Bridgetown, where he also coached, counselled, and shared his wit and wonderful storytelling. He is remembered fondly as one of the "greats" by students across Nova Scotia. Frank loved his wife, Nancy (Sweeney of Milltown N.B.) fiercely and this love was felt by all who knew them. Married in 1972, they spent 43 years building a life, a home and a family in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. He was a devoted husband who had found "the one". This love carried on after losing Nancy in 2015. Frank will be remembered as the "Best Dad Ever" (with apologies to those who think your Dad held that title). A dedicated father in countless ways, he forged a friendship with his son, Brian, that will not be soon forgotten. Frank modeled for him a deep respect for people, a passion for baseball and the Red Sox, a great jumpshot, an unmatched work ethic, a positive approach and how to love with conviction. A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 7th at 3 p.m. in Church of St. John the Evangelist in Windsor. By request, there will be no visitation. For those who wish and in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to a local food bank would be appreciated by the family. To add your condolences, click on Guestbook at: www.lindsaysfuneralhome.com
