Flodell, Meropoulis named athletes of week
Acadia goalie Logan Flodell, who backstopped the country's sixth-ranked Axemen to two important wins before the holiday break, was named the U Sports male athlete of the week.
The sophomore netminder from Regina turned aside 40 shots last Friday as the Axemen defeated the U Sports No. 1 team, the UNB Reds, 3-2.
The following night, Flodell made 33 saves in Acadia's 4-3 overtime victory over the Moncton Aigles Bleus.
The Axemen sit alone atop of the Atlantic university conference with a 14-4 record. The league resumes play Jan. 2.
