Age 78, of Middle Sackville, passed away peacefully in Hants County Community Hospital December 8, 2019. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late William and Elfleda Carroll. Gordie spent a lifetime driving for a living. He had a multitude of friends in the trucking industry from his early days with his first truck delivering bricks, to hauling cars, driving fuel trucks and finally with his own dump trucks. Gordie was also a car enthusiast and had a nice collection of cars and trucks, both old and new. Gordie was also a proud father and stepfather. While he didn’t always show his emotions, he offered all his children help, support and advice. Gordie enjoyed his extended family. He was a big tease and very quick with his wit and funny stories. Gordie is survived by his wife, Pat; his children, Cathie (Harry), Rick, and Chris (Rachelle); stepchildr­en, Nicolette, Glenn (Sheila), Blair (Christene), and Darren (Michelle); his sisters, Peggy Godfrey (Jim), Elaine McGivern (Jim); 13 grandchild­ren and eight great-grandchild­ren. A memorial service celebratin­g Gordie’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 13th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, reception to follow.
