Age 79, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, December 9, 2019, in Orchard Court - Shannex, Kentville. Born in Moncton, N.B., he was a son of the late James and Ruby (Drillon) Bernard. He was a wellknown entertaine­r and magician having turned his hobby into a full-time career performing throughout the Maritime Provinces for audiences of all ages. He had been an active member of New Minas Baptist Church for 30 years. Al enjoyed meeting people whether they were at the mall, Tim Horton’s or when greeting people at the church door. A great encourager, he always enjoyed giving his time to others including reading with the students at New Minas Elementary School. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol (Crossman), Kentville; Angela MacDonald (Fred Outerleys) New Glasgow; Pamela (Jeff) Spinney, Port Williams; grandchild­ren, Matthew Spinney, Emma Spinney and Ryan Spinney, all of Port Williams; sister, Linda Bernard, Riverview; brother, Gordon (Mary) Bernard, Moncton; nieces, nephews and extended family. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 13th, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 14th, in New Minas Baptist Church, Rev. Daniel Cormier officiatin­g. A private family burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada.
