A fatal single-car collision early Thursday afternoon on Highway 103 near Lakeside closed the highway in both directions.
Halifax District RCMP said in a release that they responded to the scene at 12:30 p.m. A car with three people in it left the highway, hit the ditch and rolled, police said.
One occupant was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police did not reveal the gender of the person who died.
The other two occupants were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency and paramedics also responded to the crash. An RCMP collision analyst was at the scene Wednesday afternoon.
By late afternoon, Highway 103 remained closed to all vehicle traffic in both directions between Exit 2, the St. Margarets Bay Road turnoff, and Exit 3, the Timberlea exit.
Police said the highway was expected to be closed for some time and travellers were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
