GREENCORN, Edward Howard "Eddy"

Age 60 of Port Hawkesbury, passed peacefully away at home with his family by his side on Monday, December 9, 2019. Eddy was born in Heatherton, Antigonish Co. on July 13, 1959, Eddy was a son of the late Phillip Howard and Elizabeth "Marg" Margaret (Brendel) Greencorn. Eddy was employed with Martin Mariette Materials for the past 35 years as a Heavy Equipment Operator/Driller and Blaster; up until his illness he was known as "Jughead" and took great pride in his work. He was truly gifted with so many talents in his life and could accomplish anything he put his mind to. Eddy truly was a "Jack of all trades" willing to help anyone he could. Eddy loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman and Hunter, spending many hours tying flies or in the woods hunting with his nephew, Brian. Eddy’s favorite thing was to go for a drive and explore new places while spending precious time with the ones he loved. He is survived by his wife, Wanda MacLeod; daughters, Shana (Curtis) Lamorie, Calgary, Alta.; Daffney Greencorn (Evan Deveau), Cheticamp; step daughter, Melanie MacLeod, Port Hastings; stepson, Jared MacLeod, at home; sisters, Helga MacKinnon and Diane Greencorn (Archie Clyke) all of Mulgrave; brothers, Alphonse (Jacqueline), Port Hawkesbury; Kenneth (Sandra), Lincolnvil­le; granddaugh­ter, Kinsley Deveau; special niece, Samatha (Alex) Jones and their children, Aubree and Olivia; several nieces and nephews. Also his canine driving buddies, Patches and Bear. Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by brothers, Kristean Phillip in infancy, Hans Jurgen, Phillip "Paul"; brother-in-law, John B. MacKinnon. Special thanks to Continuing Care, especially nurse Jackie, Homecare and to the Palliative Care Team Dr. Cooper and nurses Kyla and Shelly. It was because of these services that Eddy was granted his only wish, to stay at home until the time of his passing. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14th from 4-9 p.m. in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 15th at 2 p.m., in St. Andrew’s Anglican Cemetery, Mulgrave with Lay Minister Gail MacKay officiatin­g. A time of rememberan­ce and fellowship will follow the burial in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Memorial donations in memory of Eddy may be made to St. Martha’s Palliative Care Unit or a charity of one’s choice.
