It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alexander Joseph MacKenzie "Alex" at home on December 10, 2019, at the age of 72. He was born in Inverness on June 20, 1947. He was a son of the late Johnny Catherine (MacDonald) MacKenzie. Alex loved to play bingo, and his pride and joy besides his family was to feed the birds. He had a passion for the Inverness Raceway and the horses. He also took pride in the way he taught all of his family members to stack and put away the winter wood. Alex had a story to tell to everyone he met and will be missed to all who came to know him. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy MacKenzie; along with their daughters, Patricia, Halifax; Alison, Inverness; grandchild­ren, Kale, Kelsey, Shalyssa, Lexie, Melanie, Hunter, Ava, and Colbin; great-grandchild­ren, Reign, Lyla, Grayson, Jaxson, and CJ. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary and Theresa; brothers, Hugie, and John Alex, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his brothers, Charlie, Donnie, AJ, Neil; sisters, Jessie Ann, Margaret; and infant son, Steven Alexander. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, in Stella Maris Church, Inverness from 10-10:45 a.m., with Funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m., Father Dan MacDonald officiatin­g, burial to follow at a later date in the parish cemetery.
