Age 91 passed away Thurs­day, April 2, 2020 in Moun­tain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Inglisvill­e, he was a son of the late Clarence and Olive (Corkum) Whit­man. Lawrence and his wife Bertha man­aged Chip­man Farms, Tup­perville for 40 years. Ear­lier years he was em­ployed with Beaver Fruit Coop, Land and Forests Nurs­ery in Lawrence­town. Dad loved wood­work­ing, weav­ing ap­ple bas­kets and do­ing wood carv­ings. He also en­joyed play­ing 45s, watch­ing horse and ox pulls at ex­hi­bi­tions. Dad loved his mu­sic. He loved play­ing his gui­tar and knew the words to ev­ery song ev­ery­one was singing. On his 90th birth­day he sang with his five chil­dren. Dad loved jam ses­sions and would go to ev­ery one that he could. He en­joyed the mu­si­cal en­ter­tain­ment at the Mead­ows and at Moun­tain Lea. Dad will be sadly missed by his lov­ing fam­ily: daugh­ters, Terry Sil­ver, Hal­i­fax and Round Hill; Phyl­lis (Kevin) Mclean, Le­qui­lle; Dale Whit­man, Dart­mouth; sons, Aubrey Whit­man, Moun­tain Lea Lodge; Lawrence Jr. (Sonny) (Sue Huelin), Her­ring Cove; sis­ter, Betty O’neil, Par­adise; Frances (Earl) Whynot, Brick­ton; brother, Car­roll Corkum, Lawrence­town; grand­chil­dren, James, Jimmy (Laura), Johnny (Brenda), Carol, Cyn­thia, Natasha, Tia (Alexi), Greg­gory, Kody (Me­lanie), Kolin (Katie), and 13 great-grand­chil­dren and four great great-grand­chil­dren. Dad was so proud of his fam­ily. He was pre­de­ceased by his wife, Bertha; twin daugh­ters, Jean Stod­dart and Joan Con­nell; brothers, Lester, and David in in­fancy; son-in-law, Gor­don Sil­ver; brother-in-law, Eric O’neil; and sis­ter-in-law, Laura Corkum; many nieces and neph­ews. Dona­tions in Dad’s mem­ory may be made to Inglisvill­e United Bap­tist Church or the Inglisvill­e Com­mu­nity Hall. Due to the cir­cum­stance of the Covid 19 pan­demic a memo­rial ser­vice will be held at a later date. Ar­range­ments have been en­trusted to Mid­dle­ton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-855-3448.
