STUART (Ford), Melita Patricia

-

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Melita (Ford) Stuart on March 24, 2020, in Prince Rupert, B.C. She was a wife, daughter, mother, moppy, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher to many. Melita was born in Peterborough, Ont., to the late Dr. Wilson and Connie Ford. She moved to Nova Scotia in her teens and completed her post secondary education at Mount St. Vincent University and Acadia where she went on to become a teacher, primarily senior high school mathematics. She taught her first year in Nova Scotia and then moved to Prince Rupert, B.C., which became her permanent home. She was a natural-born teacher from day one. Her students thought very highly of her, not only in her ability to impart the concepts of mathematics but also in her unique ability to make it interesting and engaging. Many students said she was the best teacher they ever had. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds. She was an excellent cook and got great pleasure in seeing others enjoying her efforts. In 2012 she first became "Moppy" and this would be her next greatest chapter. Her two grandchildren were the center of her universe. She leaves to mourn her loving husband, John; daughter, Mary Rose (Felice) Ciotoli; grandchildren, Blake and Lukas, and beloved companion, Janey. She is also survived by brothers, Wilson (Cynthia), Barrie, Ont.; Leland, Cranbrook, B.C.; John, Prince Rupert; and sister, Maureen Ryan, Hammonds Plains; and her nephews, Jason, Christopher, and Sean. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Clayton; sister, Wvelma; and her aunt and namesake, Melita Ford, with whom she held a special bond. Many thanks to the emergency response team and Joy Sundin, who offered such great care and comfort during an unimaginable time. In addition, thank you to all the family and friends who have reached out in support during this difficult time. Melita had a deep love for animals; in lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Prince Rupert Wildlife Shelter or the SPCA. A Celebration of Life for Melita will be held at a later date. "You are with family now and

in God’s hands forever. Miss you now and always."- J
