CHMIEL, Charlotte E.

Age 97 of Whitney Pier, Sydney, passed away April 19, 2020 in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Nan was a daughter of the late Michael and Madeline Marmulak. She was predeased by her husband, Thomas Chmiel Sr.; son, Tom Chmiel; and brother, Walter Marmulak. Surviving are son, Donnie (Leslie), Calgary Alta.; daughter-in-law. Lois Gallagher Chmiel, Truro; sister, Helen Maclean, Sydney; sister-in-law, Betty Kerr, Cole Harbour. Nan was the proud grandmother to Michael (Joanne) Dartmouth; Jim, St. Johns; Tonya (Kevin), Masstown; Patty (Darin), Egerton. She was great-grandmother of eight, and great great-grandmother to seven. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces. Nan immigrated to Canada at a young age and settled in Whitney Pier, Sydney with her parents. She was a member of St. Mary’s Polish Church and was active in her church community. Nan enjoyed her weekly club gatherings at her home for social and refreshments with friends for many years. She was a full time homemaker and master of the pierogi. She loved to cook and host an Old Christmas as part of her Ethnic traditions. Thank you to Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Victoria Way. You have provided Nan with a home away from home. We know you will miss her late night prowl and shopping expeditions. The endless stories have always brightened our day.
