HEWITT (Kaiser), Lilla "Marilyn"

Age 78, of Dartmouth, passed away on April 28, 2020 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Port Bickerton, she was a daughter of the late Frances and Calvin Kaiser. Marilyn found her passion for teaching children in a one-room schoolhous­e in Port Bickerton when she was 16 years old. She then attended Normal College in Truro and graduated in 1961. She was a teacher for a more than a 28 year career, mainly in the Dartmouth School System. She attended South End Baptist Church for many years and served in a variety of roles and committees during that time. She especially loved "Ladies Morning Out" and making corn chowder for "Feeding Others of Dartmouth". Marilyn enjoyed tole painting, gardening, and scrapbooki­ng and more recently, adult colouring books. She was known for her sense of humour and hosting gatherings for friends and family. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Fran (John) Gosse, and grandson, Ben (Hannah) Gosse, all of Cole Harbour. She is also survived by her brother, Roger (June) Kaizer, New Minas; sisters-in-law, Aileen Kaiser, Port Bickerton; Alice Hewitt, Port Hillford; and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predecease­d by her husband, Morse "Bud" Hewitt; brother, Murray Kaiser; brotherin-law, James "Jim" Hewitt; sister-in-law, Helen Hewitt. Because of the Covid-19 restrictio­ns, a private graveside service for immediate family will be held in Hillside Cemetery in Port Bickerton. A memorial service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will take place at a later date in South End Baptist Church.
