On May 3, 2020, Barbara "Barbie" Sharon Crittenden passed away in Inverness Memorial Consolidat­ed Hospital. Barbie was born on September 5, 1942, in Ontario, where she lived briefly, before moving to Manitoba and then, to Nova Scotia, Point Tupper, Port Hawkesbury, and, finally, Mabou became her home. Barbie resided at Koster Huis, Mabou, for approximat­ely the last 22 years. She was predecease­d by her loving parents, William and Helen (Chisholm) Crittenden. Barbie is survived by her legal guardians, Almon and Margaret Chisholm, Port Hawkesbury, with whom she had frequent visits, and looked forward to drives for pop and chips while she enjoyed the scenery. Barbie was a loving and gentle person who enjoyed spending time with her friends at Koster Huis. She loved music and looking at pictures. She will be greatly missed by her four-legged companion, Tabor. A special thank you to the community of Mabou, in particular, the past and present staff at Koster Huis where Barbie was welcomed, received much love, and the highest quality of care, possible. We will be forever grateful for the love and dedication shown to Barbie by the current Director of Koster Huis, Simone Vanzutphen, and predecesso­r, Barabra Maceachern. We would like to thank the staff at Inverness Consolidat­ed Memorial Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Barbie during her brief illness.
