Age 97, passed away peacefully in Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s, Cape Breton on the evening of April 30, 2020. Born on November 8, 1922, in Judique, he was part of the John Graham Scottish lineage. He and his wife, Mary Christine "Tena" Macinnis were married for 61 years. They carried on the Gaelic tradition, speaking the language and enjoying Celtic music. After attending St. FX University, he worked at the Co-op, but mainly worked as CAO for Inverness County. He helped bring water and sewage facilities, as well as modern schools to the county. He helped launch the local army cadets chapter, the volunteer fire department, and he was a 78year member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill was loyal to his faith, his family and land he was from. He served on the parish council for St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. He was an avid gardener on his own land, the Tartan Gardens and at Kintyre Farm. He walked every morning to the sea and enjoyed ceilidhs at the Celtic Music Interpreti­ve Centre. He is survived by his children, Larry (Margaret Hodgson) of Dartmouth; Sandy (Mary Lynk) of Halifax; and Jeanne (Peter Barr) of Australia; adoring grandchild­ren, Ted, Laura, Ian, Kate, Matt, Nick and Laila; and great-grandchild­ren, Andrew, Emma, Lochlan, Charlie and Cassia. All will miss his famous hugs. Also survived by his sister, Mary Macdonald, St. Peter’s; and brother, Duncan, Moncton. He was predecease­d by his first child, Margaret; his brothers, John, Vincent and Francis; and sisters, Catherine Oliver and Anne Gillis; and parents, Angus John and Euphemia (Chisholm) Graham. He will be buried next to Tena in St. Andrew’s Parish Cemetery in Judique. Sadly, there will be no funeral. The burial will be held Tuesday, May 5 at 2 p.m. for immediate family members only. A celebratio­n of Bill’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
