THOMAS, Cora Amelia

Age 85 of Upper Rawdon, passed away at home on April 30, 2020 from a battle with cancer. Born in Moose Brook on March 17, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Kerr) Laffin. She is survived by her children, Lola Wilson, Linda Mackeigan (Leo), Marilyn Thomas (Archie Macinnis), Janet Macaulay (Robert), Judy Thomas (Bruce Trenholm), and John (Sheila). She is also survived by 12 grandchild­ren, 15 great-grandchild­ren, five great great-grandchild­ren and brother, Albert. Cora was predecease­d by her husband, John Raymond "Ray" Thomas; son-in-law, Gary Wilson and many brothers and sisters. Mom was a hard worker and a splendid cook. She worked numerous years, employed at the Scotia Nursing Home as a cook. In later years she provided care to her dying husband and seniors in the Rawdon area. Mom volunteere­d as a Firette. She was a hardworkin­g organizer, cook, host, and greeter. St. David’s will have an empty pew; fund-raiser, caring woman - her work is done. Cremation has taken place. Due to the current Nova Scotia Health regulation­s concerning the Covid-19 virus, there will be a Funeral service held in St. David’s Anglican Church in Upper Rawdon and a private family burial in St. Paul’s Anglican Church cemetery, Centre Rawdon at a later date.
