Of Arichat/ Louisdale. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, Mary Eileen Sampson, 88, that occurred April 27, 2020 at her home in St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat, formerly of Louisdale. Born in Walkervill­e (Whiteside) June 22, 1931, Eileen was a daughter of the late John and Annie (Macphee) Scanlan. Her family and friends meant everything to her. Mom is survived by her boys - Wayne, Brampton, Ont.; Brian (Penny), Markham, Ont.; Lloyd (Barb), Fort Mcmurray, Alta.; Paul (Erleen), Steve, Brent (Erma), all of Louisdale; 12 grandchild­ren; nine great-grandchild­ren; brothers, Wilfred Scanlan, Paul Scanlan, both of Halifax; sisters, Donzella Samson, Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s; Marcella Byrne, Ivey Meadows, Beaver Bank; Anna (Bruce) Ellis, Dartmouth; and sister-in-law, Almira Scanlan, Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Cathy Sampson, Louisdale. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her husband, Alfred Sampson; Jeffrey Sampson (first husband and father of children); brothers, John (Arvella) and Jim Scanlan; brother-in-law, Teddy Sampson and she was very sadly predecease­d by her great-granddaugh­ter, Clara Joan Belanger. Our heartfelt appreciati­on to all the staff of St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre during the past 18 years our mom resided with you. This was her home where she made many friends and was well taken care of. I am sure her friends will miss her daily visits and chats, card and bingo games .... We, her family, thank you. Cremation has taken place. The funeral and celebratio­n of her life will be held at a later date. Donations can be sent to St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat.
