Age 94, of Londonderr­y, passed away peacefully, with her grandniece, Teresa by her side, on Sunday, May 3, 2020, in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Londonderr­y, she was the youngest daughter of the late Arthur West and Katherine (Lee, West) Purdy. She was the last surviving member of her family. Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her husband, Charles; sisters, Mary Brown, Doris Hosh, Irene Mosher; brother, Maurice West; stepfather, Mac Purdy; stepsister, June Houghton. She is survived by her nieces, Dotty Mcleod, Maxine (Dan) Richard, Cheryl Clark, Gail Giles, Daria (Larry) West Thompson; nephews, James (Brenda) Mosher, Eric (Diane) Mosher, John Hosh, Ed (Ardys) Hosh. She is also survived by her daughter, Lily (Marc) Plant; grandsons, Sebastian, Francis, Patrice; great-grandson, Noah; many great-nieces and great-nephews, especially grandniece, Teresa (Mike) Mcnutt; grandnephe­ws, Greg (EJ) Richard and Aaron (Hejung) Richard, and their children who Alma thought of as her grandchild­ren. Alma worked many years in the textile industry. She loved her houseplant­s and gardens and was very crafty; she could make most anything she set her mind to do. The family wish to offer their heartfelt thanks and appreciati­on to the staff on Purdy Lane at Cedarstone Enhanced Care for the devoted care, comfort and compassion they so diligently provided during Alma’s time with them. Due to Covid-19 restrictio­ns, interment will be held in Hillcrest Cemetery and a celebratio­n of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillcrest Cemetery, Londonderr­y or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro.
