CRAIG, Mary Ethel
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother on Tuesday May 5, 2020, in Northwood Manor, Halifax. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Anthony (Halifax) and Margaret Hudson (Sturgess) Cooper (New Haven). Ethel will be dearly missed by her children, Cyril (Colleen), Herring Cove; Billy (Barbie), Sackville; Joann Harding (Larry), Beaver Bank; Pauline Currie (Cyril), Sackville; Eric (Nancy), Sackville; and Heather Raycroft (Steve), Fall River. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jason (Janet), Chris, Emily, Kathy, Ashley, Ryan, Tyler, and Marley; and great-grandchildren Charlie, Sam, Rosie and Daniel; siblings Nancy, Kathy, Raymond, Paul and Joseph; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Leonard; baby son, Leonard; siblings, Gerald, Lawrence, Joan, Shirley, and Barbara; grandson, Colin; nephews, Jamie Burgess and Lawrence Cooper and daughter-in-law, Shirley; all of whom she loved and missed dearly. Ethel was a beautiful soul who will be remembered and missed greatly by all who knew and loved her, especially family. She was an honest, kind and generous person, who would always help anyone in need. She was quick to smile and laugh and enjoyed her family immensely. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved playing cards with her sisters, brothers, and her children. Always an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, she never missed a game. She also enjoyed her favorite soap opera, General Hospital. Always a pet lover, she was heartbroken when her cherished cat Leon and dog Ollie passed away. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Northwood Manor, especially her niece, Tanya Mombourquette, and Jobin Joseph, who went above and beyond for Ethel’s care. Thanks to the many IWK and VON nurses, who volunteered to work at Northwood Manor, for their compassion and excellent care. Many thanks to hospice nurses Mary and Pam, who helped us through the last hours of Mom’s life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or Autism Society of Nova Scotia. Private family graveside service. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Online condolences can be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Sackville Chapel).
