LECLERC (Macdonald), Barbara Ann

-

Age 69, Halifax. We are saddened to share that Barbara passed away peacefully on May 6, 2020 in Northwood Manor, with kind and caring staff by her side. Barbara was born in Sydney, Cape Breton to Charles H. and Marian Macdonald, one of six children. She grew up in Marion Bridge, attending Riverview High School before moving to Dartmouth where she worked for John F. Stevens Realty as a secretary. In 1972, she married Rene Leclerc and started a family with the birth of her beloved daughter, Danielle. Barbara took great joy in being a mother and was fiercely proud of all of Danielle’s accomplishments. As an adult, Barbara was baptized in the Catholic faith and throughout her life found friendship and comfort through her involvement in the church. She was a devout member of the St. Thomas Moore congregation in Dartmouth and later, the Immaculate Conception Church in Woodside. Her beliefs also brought her to be involved with the Franciscans of Halifax. Through all of these, Barb found community, fellowship, friendship and also solace. She was a kind and gentle soul who maintained a quiet dignity throughout her life, despite all of the challenges and hardships presented by her long diagnosis of Bipolar disorder. In the face of all that life brought her way, Barbara was resilient beyond measure. Barb is survived by her daughter, Danielle Leclerc (Mark Sullivan), Georgia; brothers, Don (Bev) Peterborough; Barry (Marina), Dartmouth; John Eric, Lethbridge; as well as nieces, Candace and Amy (Oke); and nephew, Kevin Macdonald. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Betty; her brother, Peter; her former husband, Rene Leclerc; and her long-time companion, Bobby Passfield. Barbara found pleasure in many things. She loved going out for lunch, listening to music and especially attending the Legion dances. She flourished in the care of her wonderful team on 7 Manor at Northwood. The difficulties presented by the Covid-19 pandemic are beyond comprehension and Barb’s family would like to thank all who cared for her through this time. Special thanks in particular to Megan and Nancy, who were so dear to "Barbie". Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.coleharbourfuneral.com
