Age 81 of Dartmouth. October 21, 1938-May 5, 2020. Born in Dartmouth, son of the late John Pius Otto and the late Flora Dorothy (Conrad) Otto. He passed away too soon after a long and valiant battle with cancer, Liver Cancer "100%" due to tainted blood transfusio­ns in the 1980’s. David attended Dartmouth schools and one year at Kings-edgehill in Windsor. He loved to fish wherever he found a river, he loved to walk in the woods and hunt, but the rabbits were quite safe. He joined the RCAF in 1961, based in Clinton, Greenwood, CFB Baden Germany and lastly Shearwater from where he retired to raise a small flock of sheep, two rescued horses and a goat, in Elgin, Pictou Co. David is survived by his loving wife, Greta (Smith) Otto after almost 58 years, with whom he cruised extensivel­y; daughter, Cheryl Otto R.N. who sat with him and watched him fish as a toddler; son, Bruce Otto, his pal and his sheep grooming /exhibition going companion, he loved to watch Bruce and friends practice and play hockey. his grandchild­ren, and pride and joy, Jacob Cimello, Madison, Tyler and Blake Otto. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Otto (Betty); sister, Elaine (R. Peter) Harrison (Otto) and many nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his parents; his brothers, John Otto, James Otto; and sisters-in-law, Doreen Kravis, Betty Otto and Dorothy Otto. Many thanks to many people: very special thanks to Dr. K. Peletekian, Dr. Keating, Dr. Robinson and Dr. Izzard; nurses, Judith, Carla, Heather; all the nurses of the Medical Day Unit; V.G. Site QEII, Dartmouth General Hospital and Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital. All very special people. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
