It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Gilbert Roland Parsons "Gil". Gil passed away at home in Dartmouth, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. Gil was born in Ship Cove, N.L. to Pastor George Edgar and Mary Gwendolyn Parsons (Hiscock). Gil is survived by his loving wife, Kay Parsons (Steele); daughters, Gilda Greenough, Roxanne Mckinnon (Joe), Rhonda Parsons (Jim Macdonald), Sandra Houlihan (Dan), Gina Parsons (Jamie Miles); sons, George Parsons, Douglas Parsons, and Geoffrey Parsons (Tari Gabriel); grandchildren, Katie Macconnachie, Stephanie Greenough-carey, Jennifer Corkum, Angus Mckinnon, Jessica Lecerf, Michael Mckinnon, Douglas Houlihan, Patrick Houlihan, Michael Macdonald, Gregory Miles, Jenna Miles, Ryan Miles, Jessica Dupuy, Kaylee Parsons-miller; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Allison Macconnachie; Sam Greenough, Oliver and Finn Carey; Quinn Corkum; Brodie and Sophia Lecerf; Veronica Dupuy; and Roger Mckinnon; sisters-inlaw, Marjorie Motter, Sandra Dale, Glenda Mckinney, and Gwen Steele; brother-in-law, Bob Dysart; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dawn and Stewart Myers. Gil was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Robina, Rhoda, Georgia, and Gwen, and little Beulah; brothers, Jack and little Philip. After attending Memorial and Dalhousie Universities, Gil spent most of his career as a Pharmaceutical Representative with Wyeth Ltd. Gil was the consummate family man. He loved and lived for his wife of 66 years, Kay, and all of his cherished children and grandchildren. We will always reflect fondly on his recounting of adventures as a young boy growing up in smalltown Newfoundland, his oftshared pearls of wisdom, impeccable morals, quick wit, and quoting of favourite poems and readings. Gil was a long-time member of Grandview Golf and Country Club. We know he is smiling now as he plays the 19th hole! As summed up by his Grade 11 teacher, "He is what he is, what better report, a scholar, a gentleman, and a very good sport". There will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Food Bank. Online condolences may be sent by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Dartmouth Chapel).
