SCIOCCHETTI, Roberto "Robert"

-

Age 66 of Bedford, passed away May 3, 2020 in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease. Robert was born in Chieti, Italy, in 1953 and immigrated to Halifax through Pier 21 in 1961, with his parents Romolo and Assunta (Dibacco) Sciocchetti, and brother, Vincenzo. Robert spent most of his career with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans before moving to the private sector in 1998 until his retirement in 2012. He enjoyed pulling his friends and family into conversations about United States politics, and you would count yourself lucky to be treated to his Italian cooking, especially his lasagna. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, and the love and pride he felt for his family was a constant throughout his life. Robert was predeceased by his parents and brother. He is survived by his wife, Exie (Warford) and son, Romolo (Robbie), Bedford; daughter, Johnelle, and grandson, William, Halifax; sister, Anna Marie (Bruce) Landry, Halifax; sister-in-law, Patricia Sciocchetti, Ontario; sister-inlaw, Marilyn (Everett) Hutchings; brothers-in-law, Raymond (Vivian) Rolfe, Calvin (Donna) Warford, Clarence (Bonnie) Warford, Bruce (Vina) Warford, John (Ina) Warford, Hughie (Golda) Warford, and Larry (Jude) Warford, all of Newfoundland and Labrador; plus many nieces and nephews. The family would like to say a special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Unit 5A at the VG for the compassionate care and support given to Robert and family members. They truly went above and beyond. Donations in Robert’s memory can be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Due to COVD-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date.
