BOYD, Edward John

-

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our devoted husband, brother, proud father and grandfather on May 8, 2020 at the age of 82. Born May 17, 1937 and raised in Halifax, he was a son of the late Carl and Eliza (Martell) Boyd. Ed was a kind and gentle soul and always had a smile on his face. No matter where he went in the world he always ran into someone he knew. Ed worked at Nova Scotia Armature Works Ltd. for 37 years where he made lifelong friends and then W.A. Moir Machine Shop before his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a proud father and "puppy" to his grandchildren. He was a jack of all trades and loved tinkering around the yard, in his garage and going on road trips to construction sites. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Jean (Reid), Lower Sackville; daughter, Karen (Dave Pottier), Halifax; sons, Edward Jr. (Michelle), Calgary; Kevin (Jennifer), Bedford; grandchildren, Morgan, Nathan and Tyler; great-grandson, Ryder; sister, Vina Blakely, Whitby, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Viola Sampson; brothers, Carl and Gordon; brother-in-law, Jules Sampson, and sister-in-law, Constance Boyd. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at a later date. Online condolences may be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Sackville Chapel).
