MACEACHERN, Sandra Isabel

-

Age 69, passed away peacefully, reunited with her infant son, Stephen, May 6, 2020. She was born on March 22, 1951 in Inverness, Cape Breton. She was a daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Mackinnon) Gillis (of South West Margaree). Sandra married her lifelong love, Angus Alexander Maceachern, July 15, 1972 and raised the family that was her pride and joy for the following 48 years of marriage together. She was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Sandra had a heart of gold matched only by her beautiful smile and quick wit. She enjoyed gatherings no matter the number or age. Sandra loved music and dancing, was full of spirit and laughter and was a true pleasure to be around. For many years Sandra worked in the kitchen at Inverness Hospital, putting her heart and soul into every meal she made, meals that are still spoken of today. No stranger to obstacles and sorrow, Sandra’s faith and perseverance allowed her to rise above these things with grace and humility. Caring for others was a gift that came so naturally to her. Sandra is survived by her husband, Angus; son, Conway (Darlene); daughters, Tenely (Joel), and Caroline (Chad); siblings, Donald (Florence) and Jimmy; sisters, Lorraine, Ann and Margaret; grandchildren, Lauren, Ava, Blake, Noah and Carmin; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Caroline and infant son, Stephen; as well as her nephew, Roger and niece, Corrina. Thank you to Inverness Hospital for all the care provided to Sandra through the years. Thank you to Dr. Egar who took exceptional care to meet every one of her needs, Bless you!! Thank you to each and every staff member at Inverary Manor, the love and compassion that was given to mom was beyond what we ever could have hoped for. We love each and every one of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To all our friends and family, words could never express our gratitude and thanks for the calls, texts, flowers, food and gifts. It means so much that you want to help us celebrate such a beautiful life. Memorial donations may be made to Central Inverness Palliative Care Society or Stella Maris Parish Cemetery Fund.
