Of Halifax. It is with saddened and broken hearts that we announce the passing of James Macdonald "Jimmy", our precious Dad, grandfathe­r, brother, brother-in-law and father-in-law, on May 8, 2020 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Dad was born September 30, 1931, to the late Mary Cowie. Dad worked many years for City Field and then went on to pursue a career with Canada Post for 32 years, from where he retired. Dad was a loving husband to his wife, Rowena (Greenwood), and they were married for almost 65 years. Dad was predecease­d by his wife, Rowena in March, 2017; and his youngest daughter, Jo-anne in June, 2012 and the loss of them totally broke his heart. He was a very caring, compassion­ate Dad and loved us dearly. Dad, we are sad to lose you but happy you are no longer suffering. Now you will be united with Mom and Jo-anne. Dad is survived by his loving daughter, Rowena Baker; his loving son, Jamie (Christina); loving grandchild­ren, Allan Patrick (Carolyn), James Patrick and Sarah Mae; brothers, Alex Cowie (Dolly), Edward Cowie, Frank Cowie (Diane); brother-in-law, Joe Greenwood (Marie), Stewiacke; sister-in-law, Marie Greenwood, Halifax; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad was also predecease­d by his grandmothe­r, Ella Whalen; brother, Alfred Cowie; son-inlaw, Allan Baker; brothers-inlaw, Robert Greenwood, Patrick Greenwood and Basil Greenwood; sisters-in-law, Sandra Cowie, Ethel Greenwood and Florence Greenwood; nephews, Joey Greenwood, Patrick Greenwood (son of Patrick), Patrick Greenwood (son of Robert); and special family friend, Herbert Keddy. Arrangemen­ts are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., Halifax. Donations may be made to Hope for Wildlife, 5909 Hwy. 207, Seaforth, NS B0J 2L0.
